The list may be incomplete. As a rule of thumb, all Nokia phones with GPRS support is a DCT4 phone. The method used for unlocking the phones in order to make them work with all Service Providers is by using "Masterkeys". Theese are keys that are in the phones in order for Nokia (or your Service Provider) to be able to remove all restrictions in your phone software. In every phone there is a total of 7 Masterkeys, that can all be calculated from the phones IMEI number and the identifier of the Network or Service Provider for which the phone is locked. A Nokia phones IMEI number is a 15-digit integer, which constitutes a unique serialnumber of the phone. The identifier of the Network is a unique integer for each Service Provider throughout the world. If you know the name of your Service Provider, the software on this page will translate that name into the appropiate Network Identifier. In a (Nokia DCT4) phone there is a total of 4 SIM Locks. Lock 1 : MCC+MNC (Network- og Country specific) Lock 2 : GID1 Lock (SIM Card type) Lock 3 : GID2 Lock (SIM Card type) Lock 4 : MSIN Lock (SIM Card specific lock) The previosly mentioned Masterkeys are of the following form : #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+1# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+2# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+3# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+4# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+5# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+6# #pw+XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+7# Where the "X" are different integers, and the integer after "+" for the rest of this tutorial will be referred to as the "Code Number" or "Code Identifier". Eeach Code unlocks one of more of the four SIM Locks. Code 1 disables Lock 1 Code 2 disables Lock 2 Code 3 disables Lock 3 Code 4 disables Lock 4 Code 5 disables Lock 1 and Lock 2 Code 6 disables Lockk 1, Lock 2 and Lock 3 Code 7 disables Lock 1, Lock 2, Lock 3 and Lock 4 As you can see, Code Number 7 is the "Masterkey" and unlocks all of the four different SIM Locks in the phone. Since there is no harm done in unlocking all Locks, Code Number 7 is the only really interesting key. The unlocking procedure is as follows : Step 1: Remove your SIM card from the phone, and find the IMEI code. This is typically placed under the battery. It is IMPORTANT that the SIM card is NOT in the phone during the following steps!! Step 2: Type the IMEI code in the software Step 3: Choose the Service Provider for which the phone is locked (NOT the one you wish to use in the future!) Step 4: Choose your phone-type (Type 5 must be selected for Nokia 3650, 3600, 7650 and N-Gage, type 7 for 6650, 7600 and type 2 for all others. NOTE!Nokia 6230 is of Type6 - at present time there is NO known method for calculating codes for this phone. Step 5: Turn on your phone (WITHOUT a SIM Card) and type Code 7. - see instructions below. Step 6: After this the phone will write : "Restriction off" and you can now use your phone with any Service Provider of your choice. When the code (Code 7) is typed, you must type the ENTIRE code, including the characters : #pw+ and + # 1. Type "#" 2. Type "*" three times to get "p" 3. Type "*" four times to get "w" 4. Type "*" two times to get "+" 5. Type the 15 digits 6. Type "*" two times to get "+" 7. Type "7" 8. Type "#" The typing is now done, and all the SIM Locks are disabled ! Disclaimer: The owner of this website cannot be held responsible in any way for any kind of damage the above procedure may infer on you or your phone. The procedure has however been followed sucessfully by a lot of people including myselves, and I have never heard any reports of permanent damage to the phones. It is VERY important to be careful when typing in the codes. After 3 failed attempts the phone will Lock completely, and can only be unlocked by using a special interface between the phone and a computer. The software you need is called DCT4 Calculator 5.4 and it is written by Hollowman The software can be downloaded here If you appriciated the information on the above page, you are more than welcome to make a small donation in order to cover some of the expences for running this domain.
