Hi everyone.

first of all i'm sorry for my English.

i got a levelone wap-0007, today when i was browsing for new firmware i found R4.00b8 coded firmware from levelone's website. i upgraded succesfully. when i reach the console to set wireless AP, the console turned to black, and the download asisstant button was gone...  (the 02.jpg is the screenshot of new firmware)

before the upgrade my console was white-blue. and there was a download assistant button (which i can download from http, ftp and torrent with it). the screen is totally lookin' like that except BT download, there was a download assistant text. (01.jpeg i found this screenshot internet)

there are so many firmware link in the forum and i'm confused... which firmware i have 2 use. and do i have to follow any special steps.

Thanks...

Well from the screenshots it is clear that you downgraded from Airlive branded R4.00c2 to Level One branded R4.00b8.

What made you think that b8 is newer than c2?

You must find the Airlive R4.00c2 (or newer) software and do an upgrade. The WMU-6000FS_R400C3.BIN file is on their website.

I hope it works since you changed the branding. If it doesn't work search for schufti's rebranding instructions in the wiki and rebrand the box to airlive before flashing it with airlive software.

hi again to everyone.

i found the airlive's firmware, and i replaced the first few lines of bin files with hex editor (the hex thing written here    http://www.macsat.com/macsat/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,66/id,flashing_with_a_new_firmware_image/  )

when i select the new firmware and click upgrade the lights goes crazy and 10 second later there is a "unallowable firmware" error.  the device continues to works old firmware.

i searched the forum but nothing. :-(

is there any lock or something to not use hacked/different firmwares on the device...

Thanks.

Hi!

you obviously DIDN'T read the forum, or you are very lazy on reading.

There are 100's of the posts about why one can't load diferen't FW, how/why NOT to modify it and how to get the latest&greatest FW on your box .....

Best bet on your situation is:
a) reset to factory default
b) download the gui.bin file for your level one
c) flash it via recovery loader
d) reboot and pray that box comes up again and password is ok (admin or airlive)
e) via the GUI (advanced/ FWupgrade) load the latest GPL firmware from the repository

schufti

don't bother to ask about details on step a-e, it's all in the wiki and/or the forum

Hi,

see, you didn't even say what failed for you.
Usually, flashing the uc3gui.bin via recovery loader never fails ....

a) but we need a clean defined status of your box, so please try if you can still flash original LevelOne via the webinterface. Or if no, if you can flash original LevelOne via the recovery loader. -> c

b) If both fail, please download the rebranding files and flash the LevelOne.bin via recovery loader followed by the orig. LevelOne FW (without rebooting). Then reboot the box 2x. -> c

c) flash the uc3gui.bin via recovery loader. reboot 2x.
you should now be able to enter GUI to flash   MGB100_v4c3sq_091110.zip (you have to unzip first, ofcourse)
