Hi all.
I've just brought the Ecom [Manual in spanish : ( ecomspain.com/index.php/doc_download/80-ew54aphd-manual.html)] that i think is MGB100 model.
I've been looking in the forum but i've got lost, here is mixed information about MGB111 and MGB100 they are not the same. Also the download section has changed and i can't see wich ones are for my hardware.

Please, could anybody tell me how to upgrade/install the firmware. ¿Which one is the latest/best?¿How should i do it? This Ecom comes with R400c3 (i think date 2008.03.28) link ( ecomspain.com/index.php/doc_download/59-firmware-ecom-ew54aphd-r400c3-bittorrent.html )

thank so much!!

Anduriell,

Yes, you have a rebranded MGB100.

A 4.00c3 is the most recent version, containing a bittorrent client. If you don't need more than client/access point, samba, ftp and bittorrent then you can use this firmware.

However, if you want to change its function, enable telnet and such you can change the firmware, i.e. load for instance schufti's version.

But repeating all the info in the wiki and this forum is too much. Better start reading it all first and then ask any particular questions.

Thank you!
First at all i'd like to excuse because of my english, i'm spanish and i'm learning it. I'm sorry if my english is not very good.

Until now i've just flashed schufti's version, last one from his repository the version: MGB100_v4c3sq_091110 using the FW upgrade option from the Gui.
Description:
Quote
opens source upgrade file with latest ntfs3G (fixed umlauts) and latest working BusyBox (1.12.4 - in later versions AMIT-tools have problems with insmod, no WLAN)

Now i may use telnet.
The BT client from the gui has two inconvenients:
  • It's dificult to handle. It's ok for me, but i may share the bt downloads with more people in the LAN (some of them think that vista is ok as OS i mean ).
  • The webgui only can be accesed thru the admin menu. that's a problem because i'd like others to add downloads but not access to admin menu.

My main use of this NAS is to use it for sharing files (samba and ftp) and BT (if possible also direct downloads using a client like jdownloader) to avoid having 6 computers switched on all day (here in spain the electricity isn't quite cheap and i'm living in a shared flat) and if possible having an interface to make it easy to use.

Is there any way to have a nice BT/Http download client?

Regards and thank you so much!!

Is it possible to make it work as a thin client?? (interface working in local computer and daemon in the box..)
My knowlege about linux isn't great.. In case that is possible Does anybody knows how to do it?
