ehh (-:
in console (telnet or ssh)

cd /mnt/C/
wget http://mgb111.pradnik.net/addons/mc-4.6.1.tar
tar xvf mc-4.6.1.tar
rm mc-4.6.1.tar

Thanks, but that's not what I asked. I did transfer the unzipped mc-4.6.1.tar archive into the Public folder of my Airlive using Windows Explorer--that much I can do, no need for fancy Linux commands  Grin . Apparently, however, the mc-4.6.1.tar archive I had downloaded was corrupted. That's why it didn't work. Now I redownloaded it, and it's all good.

Thanks, and cheers!

Hey JKR, here's a new one: trying to FTP via FileZilla onto the AirLive box from the WAN, and I get the following error: "500 OOPS: could not open chroot() list file:/mnt/C/sys/etc/vsftpd.chroot_list" What could've happened?

Thanks

Thank you, I did that. I'll check tomorrow, see if it makes a difference, and report back.

Cheers!

@ Jajator: this is one of my chief complaints about the b2 firmware: it's very bad. In my case, it's gotten to that point where deleting (or even pausing) a torrent either crashes the UI, or it takes ages, plus all torrents I am launching remain in "wait" state until I reboot the Airlive box etc. Tried to "check" the partition, to no avail.

@ JKR: you wouldn't happen to have an opinion about the issues I am/we are facing, do you?  Embarrassed

Hey JKR, here's something that really ticks me off: tried using mc to move files off the HDD to the attached USB flash drive, and I get really crappy transfer speeds, under 1M/s. I get better speeds if I do it over the network for crying out loud! I am pretty sure that the dongle can do at least 10M/s. (The dongle is ext2 formatted, if that's of any concern.)

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can improve this transfer speed please? Use some other file manager perhaps?

Hey Slawek, i just found the following line in the readme file that accompanies the C0009M.bin firmware: "added enforce USB bandwidth allocation." Could this be the response to my above USB transfer complaint?

Awesome! ... Although I don't really expect much from Airlive or from whoever writes the official code for the 6500FS. I'd rather use some other BT client, like MLDonkey provided by Joker: I'd like to avoid going through their S***ty UI as much as possible.

Hi everybody!

I also have the WMU-6500FS and updated to the recent official firmware (R4.00b4). Then I flashed the last mgb111-firmware (FW C009-M2 Advanced). So far so good. I configured some specials like SSHD and everything works "obviously" fine. I mount the private share per cifs to (from) a debian etch amd64 System. Flawless so far.

The problem:
The NAS-Disk is ext2 and permissions are correct settable. But after rebooting the device, all permissions are reset to 775. That's really annoying, cause I use Linux and have specific permissions set to indicate certain things (executable script, old script etc.) and so I really need to rely on the same permission settings as on the Desktop-System. And when i copy a file (perm 644) to the device, it is prompt 775. I'm able to change this, but after rebooting, here goes the setting and everything is back to 775 on the box.

It has nothing to do with smb-settings, because the permissions are reset directly when I log on per ssh to the box.
AND: It seems, that only my home/share Folder is effected. i copied 2 same files to /mnt/D/ and to /mnt/D/bert/ and only the file in /mnt/D/bert/ was reset, so: not an ext2-issue.

It seems, that here in the forum the people have much more experience in such things as I do, and so it would be wonderful, if anyone has a clue or a tipp, where to search further.

Greetings an THX from Berlin!
Bert :-)

Hi everbody,

to work proper with my WMU I need to change the language, but there is no chance. I've updated the last firmware R400b4, but no chance to change character set or language. What is to do for changing the language?

Thanks an greetings from Germany

Hi
i have 2 dumb questions Grin

i'am using JoKeR's FW and i need to set registered FTP user's rights so he can't delete any files, but can normally upload/download..just like anonymouse user...but i need him to acces the "private" space on HDD...
i've read all the vsftpd docs, edited vstfp.conf...but it had no effect and after reboot the conf files returned to default Huh

2. i've been playing with httpd but every reboot it needs to be started manualy via shh..how to set it so it starts automaticly with the device?

i' ve searched this and many other sites, but didnt find the answers..so iam hoping someone here can hepl me Smiley
