Hi,

somehow there was some sparetime last night, so there again are some news...

for PEARL-Owners there is a big surprise. ATTENTION: This is a full FW-Image with newest AMIT-Binaries, so all settings are lost (set to default), but you get the BT-interface. Unfortunately this is not very stable for larger, multipart downloads (Segfaults at >~300MB]. Don't be irritated by the  OvisLink/AirLive GUI, your PEARL branding is untouched (still only PEARL FW will be accepted). Offcourse there are all my proven components (newest BB, akt. Samba, Kernel-NFS, mii-tool, etc).

for others: general upgrade gives you similar enhancements. Will work with older FW (GUI w/o downloadmanager) too! But settings will be reset to default!

schufti

edits:
1) new images with "R400c3" features (http-,ftp-,bt-downloads)
2) fixed passwd, fixed kernel-nfs blocksize
3) fixed fscheck GUI-display (080108)
4) fixed dhcpd (080109)
5) fixed printserver (080110)
6) unfortunately ftpd is not working

Hi,
the default in this boxes is allways - as mentioned in the Wiki - 192.168.123.254

but if your PC is configured for dhcp, you should get an IP via cable
(have to check, maybe dhcpd is broken ...)

edit: fixed in 080109

Hi Schufti, thank you very much for those new images, great to see work continuing on this. My Safecom box has been quietly and reliably doing its job running Debian on top of your October firmware. I haven't been following things though, so I'm a bit confused about the various firmware versions. What is the difference between S4c3.upg and 400S06.img, what's the download manager, and how do I know whether I have the old or the new GUI?

Hi,

the old GUI doesn't have a menuitem for downloads whereas the new GUI has a selection "Download Assistant" in the left menubar.

The difference between the new c3 and the 'old' s06 fw are the amit binaries that have a changed structure and internal settings format (obviously, as they reset to defaults on first run) and a new upnpd that gathers multimedia info every now and then.

If you have a 'old GUI' fw you still can use the 'ng' updates. YOu will have to redo the settings and will no have the 'download assistant'. But as you use debian on top, you won't feel the difference to the s06 fw.

General changes by me where Kernel 2.4.36, Busybox 1.10, changes to recent e2fs-tools to be compatible with GUI (show proceeding and result), adapt to new amit binaries, fix kernel-nfs blocksize, ....

with version from 080110 another problem should be fixed. Now the printserver should also run...

Hi!

No, this FW won't work on your MGB111. And as long as I don't have a MGB111 (and I don't plan to buy one) or know someone who has one equipped with jtag and rs232 I won't risk to release a fw...

The BT in this FW is "Transmission" in Version 0.72. This client doesn't support encrypted connections and therefor is not accepted by many peers/trackers. For everyday torrent downloads it should work, but with varying success due to stability ...

Can I use this (PEARL new years) image to load on my SMCWAPS-G. I have MGB100_400S03 FW on this device.

If  I cannot use this PEARL image, what is the best image that I can use that supports printserver directly (without the lpd workaround) and BitTorrent for large files.

Thanks a lot

Hi Go_CP,

if you are comfortable with the commandline, use the s07.

If you need the GUI, upload the attached uBTgui.img via recoveryloader and upgrade with the latest upgrade file from the c3 series.

Flash of uBTgui.img only takes few seconds. Device can be rebooted when LEDs flash rapidly again.

Hi Shufti!!!
i have some trouble with your last f/w 080110
I have level-one wap-0007
1st i flashed with MGB100S4c3_080110.upg, then i posted in it new gui from airlive (ubtgui.zip) via recovery loader. The device now in gui looks like airlink )))) (and when the ubtgui.bin was transferred to device, there is no indication on device, so i was waiting about 10 secs then wap-0007 was restarted by myself but everything was OK)
The problem with samba: when i try to use usb HDD via wap-0007 as newtwork drive on windows machine (XP pro, in domain)  after any operation with disk it stands unaccessible. The log files on wap-0007 says:

Code:
Samba

so the file was transferred to my pc and was opened normally. But after that usb drive was inaccessible.
So then i connected to device via telnet and give some command to restart samba services:
kill all nmbd
kill all smbd

but when i tryed to use the disk, everything was repeated and in samba log appears next strings:

any ideas?
hmm, i had found an interest thing - after samba failure, even in wap-0007 directories /mnt/USB/USB_C/ and /share/USB/USB_C/ there are no files!!! replugging the hdd takes no effect! only reboot of device! (may be any mount/dismount troubles?)
P.S. The hdd is 40GB IDE samsung (in usb 2.0 box) with NTFS volume - may be this is the problem?
