Hi,

This is a long shot, but perhaps one of you know the problem. In yesterdays thunderstorm it appears my wireless connection to the wl500g got fubared, leaving me confused.

It is now extremely difficult to get in contact with the router and almost impossible to connect to it. Moving the router extremely close to the computers made it more visible, but it's still difficult to connect to it, and if you obtain a connection it is quickly lost. When the router is close the signal generally seems fine, although it disappears from time to time.

I have tried with three different computers with different operating systems, I have rebooted the router, cut the power to it, reinstalled openWRT twice, removed the antenna, put it back in, rotated it endlessly, and all to no avail. The wired connections still function as they used to.

Probably a long shot, but any ideas? I'm almost certain it's hardware, but is it something repairable?

I wouldn't say that I know for sure. But it sounds very odd that the wireless is just weak. I would expect it to be either normal or completely dead after thunder.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I am completely baffled by it. It worked flawlessly when I went to bed which was when the thunder began... five hours later it was as it is now. I've never had any trouble with it before, and of course it's just past its warranty (maybe that's why).
