Is anybody who solved the IDE-HDD spindown through an USB adapter

Hi,
I recently configured my Asus 500g Deluxe to work with an older 8GB hard disk and now I'm looking for a solution to spin it down when it is not used. I read that only manual spin down is possible, so now I'm wanting the scsi-spin tool and their libraries.
I wish to give a try to see if it works with my USB-IDE adapter.
Thanks,
Jozsef
