Title: Searching for a simple way of installation
Post by: kultex on May 12, 2006, 11:52:47 AM
We have here  in austria a provider, who is offering a one user broadband internet connection with MPPE MSChap v2.  With my WRT54G and openwrt I could change it to a multiuser system. Now everybody wants it. So I am searching for the easiest way to install.
I borrowed an Asus WL-500g from a friend, because I find the Asus recovery tool more userfriendly.
On the router there was the lastest software from Oleg. The router was configured with 192.168.0.1. The uploading computer was in dhcp mode.
I started the recovery modus, loaded the RC5 with the webinterface, found the webinterface under http://192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/webif/system.sh
I was told to set my password. There was the described error, I did a hard reboot - unplugging the the electricity - found the webinterface again, set the password again and then the known screen of firefox appeard - page not found. Here everything stopped.
I did not find the webinterface any more, even could not connect with putty.
I only could restore Olegs firmware.
Do you have any idea, what is the problem eg. what I can do to continue with the webinterface

Did you set the password from the telnet prompt, and then reboot ?

Try to logon using ssh after this, and give me the output of :
Code:
ps

I know how it works with telnet and ssl - I am looking for an installation through the webinterface. Perhaps I am totally wrong and it is not possible, but as I understood I can continue with the webinterface - see the attachment

I did not set the password with telnet, I set the password with the webinterface. I cannot give you the output, because I cannot connect to the router anymore after I set the password in the webinterface - neither wit telnet nor with ssl

As far as I know, you have to set your password with telnet the first time.

After setting it, you can do most (basic) settings with the web interface.
